
A true musical eclectic with degrees is music and technology, Dave was classically trained, raised a jazz player, schooled in evangelical/sacred music and spent time as a professional musician touring, performing, recording and writing everything from jingles and movie themes to internationally released country and gospel songs
An ASCAP songwriter/publisher, he has been a member of the Country Music Association, Canadian Country Music Association, Nashville Songwriters Association International, Gospel Music Association and the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada.
His recordings Heartbreak Gambler and Lovin’ on Borrowed Time released by Comstock Records charted internationally followed by releases of country and Christian albums Arizona Sky and Mysterious Ways. His songs have been utilized by Producers Group Studios for films and commercials.
In addition, he also served as professor of online media and broadcast studio operations at Arizona State University and professor of sound design and film production at Grand Canyon University.
A frequent participant in Songwriter festivals across the south, his latest projects include leading the Northeast Mississippi Songwriters Collective, actively participating in the AARP Senior Planet Songwriter Workshops and serving as an Ambassador for the Mississippi Songwriter Alliance.
Bob Ray is an award winning singer-songwriter from the hills of north Mississippi. He has been writing & performing for over 25 years. He founded the Gum Tree Songwriters Festival which operated in conjunction with Tupelo’s Gum Tree Arts Festival for over 30 years. Currently, he is the co-host of Songwriters Sessions Live at The Blue Canoe, in Tupelo, a monthly songwriters show. He has twice been named a Kerrville New Folk-Songwriting Finalist. He has been a prize winner in the Ozark Folk Festival Songwriting Festival. He has won awards from &/or performed at The MAX: Mississippi Arts & Entertainment Experience, The Memphis Music & Heritage Festival, The Mississippi Songwriter's Festival, The New Orleans Song Festival, The Highway 80 Songwriter's Festival, The Nashville Songwriter's Festival, the Natchez Song Festival, & The Frank Brown International Songwriter's Festival. He has shared club, concert hall & festival stages with Marty Stuart, Paul Thorn, Keith Sykes, Kate Campbell & Rhiannon Giddens among many others. Bob's music has been featured on the playlists of such programs as "Folk Sampler," MPB's "Grassroots" & Radio Free Texas.
