Danny Myrick
Danny Myrick, born on August 3, 1964, in Laurel, Mississippi, has enjoyed a long andproductive career as both a performer and a songwriter. From his gospel roots growing up in Mississippi to successfully writing or co-writing songs recorded by a diverse roster of music artists, he has become a respected songwriter.
Myrick grew up playing bass and singing in his family's gospel band, which recorded its first album when Myrick was seven years old. Gospel music has played a huge part in his life and has grounded him in a career he loves. Myrick was presented with many opportunities at an early age. His father, a Baptist minister, promoted local gospel concerts, and as a result, Myrick had the opportunity to regularly be on stage with many major gospel performers. At the age of 17, he achieved his first gospel music chart-topper with the song "Jesus is the Light," recorded by the Dixie Melody Boys.
After graduating from high school in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Myrick furthered his education at Mississippi State University and later Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. While inNashville, he tried to pursue a music career. He was unsuccessful at first but soon joined his friend Chris Marion to create Western Flyer, a six-man vocal group, where he performed as lead vocalist, bassist, and principal songwriter. The band, founded in 1992, released two albums and six singles for Step One Records. Their most successful single, "What Will You Do with M-E?", chartedwell on the Billboard country charts in 1996. A year earlier, Western Flyer became the first non-African American band to play at the Martin Luther King Day festivities in Atlanta, Georgia.
Myrick briefly left the business following the breakup of Western Flyer in thelate 1990s. While recommitting himself to more performing and songwriting in the early 2000s, Danny Myrick ran into his old friend, Jeffrey Steele, who helped him sign his first publishing contract with Windswept Pacific. Over the years, Myrick wrote music for Soul Ride Music, Root 49 Music, and other publishing companies.
In 2008, Myrick co-wrote the highly popular song "She's Country" withBridgette Tatum, which platinum-selling country music superstar Jason Aldean recorded. Aldean took this song to #1 onBillboard's countrymusic chart. This mega-hit received enormous radio airplay and monumental sales, reaching over 3 million units, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Several of Myrick's songs, including "Get On" and "TheFall," were featured on 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Joe Cocker's 2010 album Hard Knocks. In 2021, Myrick and Travis Howard producedactor/comedian/singer Leslie Jordan'salbum,Company's Comin', a #1 gospel album featuring ChrisStapleton, Dolly Parton,Brandi Carlile, Eddie Vedder, and more. Danny Myrick has also provided background vocals for numerous hit country artists, including Keith Anderson, Blake Shelton, and Montgomery Gentry.
Myrick has been living in Nashville for many years. He is currently working as a writer and/or producer with several incredibly talented artists.Myrick's songwriting credits have led to the sale of millions of records, helping establish him as one of today's most sought-aftersongwriters.
